Georgia Guard Coalition - Advisor - W. Larry Davis

W. Larry Davis is a practicing private investigator having been licensed in the State of Georgia since 1984. During his career he has served in the capacity of Director of Investigations for two large investigative firms with the responsibility of overseeing investigative operations on a nationwide basis. He has been recognized by Private Investigation Magazine as one of the leading private investigators in the country. He has served as Vice President and At-Large Board Member as well as the Director of Training for the Georgia Association of Professional Private Investigators. Mr. Davis was awarded a Hall of Fame Award by the association in 2008 in recognition of his service to the private investigations industry. He served on the Board of Directors for the association for the term of 2012-2015, and was re-elected to serve an additional term from 2016-2018...

 

Mr. Davis holds the designation of Certified Insurance Fraud Investigator (CIFI) from the International Association of Special Investigation Units, and Fraud Claim Law Specialist (FCLS) from the American Educational Institute. He has an extensive background in the area of training, having served as a lead instructor for the military police academies in both North Carolina and California where he instructed MP’s in the areas of interview/interrogation, crimes against persons, crimes against property, firearms, and self-defense. Davis has been a certified training instructor in the State of Georgia for both classroom and firearms instruction since 1985. He has served as the Director of Investigative and Security Course Development at Gwinnett Technical College, the largest of Georgia’s Technical Colleges, since 1990 and is the primary instructor for all investigative courses taught there. His program is the longest running investigative training program in the State of Georgia. Mr. Davis is also the author of “The Professional Private Investigator”, a distance education program offered as a basic training program for investigators

 Throughout the country. Between these training programs Davis has taught over 6000 students the various aspects of the private investigations craft.

Mr. Davis also works closely with the private security industry providing all levels of training as required by the State Licensing

Boards, or company protocols to include classroom, firearms, baton, and hand-to-hand combat. His work also involves compliance investigations and consulting services regarding incident analysis and officer evaluations. He is often retained to assist retail organizations

In the investigation of organized retail crime, cargo theft, employee theft, and workplace violence.

Mr. Davis is a strong believer in always learning additional skills and techniques and receives an average of approximately one hundred fifty continuing education hours per year. He is a highly sought after speaker and often speaks at investigative, security, law enforcement or legal training events. Davis also serves as a subject matter expert for the Georgia Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies and provides mentorship services for those brand new to the private investigations field. He also volunteers for the Georgia Innocence Project conducting investigations on cases as well as training to the interns and other volunteers.

Mr. Davis provides consulting and mentoring services to those wishing to open a private investigation or private security business. He assists in business start-up, and overall compliance concerns. He serves as the training director for a number of businesses providing both initial and continuing education to investigative and security staff. He conducts educational seminars, and Lunch and Learn events throughout the Southeast on a plethora of topics.
